While most of what's coming for Release 13 Version 5.0, from both Aika and other contributors, isn't quite ready yet, we have done our best to get the Halloween stuff stable in time for Halloween. So here it is, just in time for you to enjoy over the spooky weekend! There's still a couple of placeholders and things that could use with polishing, most notably Conrico's art for one of the paintings, and also the possessed clothing mechanic could be more interesting and varied, but overall it's pretty much all there and working.

I've also included Narcissus's work on some more Queen of Spades stuff because I spent a lot of time this month helping him get it working and polished, and it's also now stable and working :-)

The full version 5.0 will be ready when it's ready! Hopefully within the first week or two of November.

How to Download

On Windows?  There's now an executable launcher, made by area57. It'll download the latest version of the game for you and lets you start a game with a single click of a button. Oh, and every time you open it, it'll check if there's a new version, and you'll be able to update to the new version from within the launcher! Just download the executable from here, and then run it: Link 1 or Link 2

You'll need around 510MB of free space for when it downloads the game file. If you have any problems with the launcher, check out the troubleshooting page here: https://trapquest.com/launcher-troubleshooting/

If you don't like the sound of running an executable from a NSFW site, use the download links further down and read the paragraph underneath them.

To use the Clothing window with the launcher, you currently need to download the game file separately (from the links on Patreon / SubscribeStar) and then use the sideload functionality by pressing F12.

This launcher is in alpha - we're still ironing out the kinks so there's still a decent chance it won't work for you.

If you're not on Windows, can't get the launcher working, or are paranoid about running an executable from some random lewd internet game website, then read on.

Trap Quest was created with Inform. To play a work like this one, you need an interpreter program: many are available, Windows Git is strongly recommended for any machine that can run it (if your overzealous antivirus has a problem with area57's improved speed version, there's an older official version here). Another interpreter called Gargoyle is available on multiple platforms but is more prone to crashes. If you're having trouble consult this page.

Known Issues

• Updating to the latest version of the MacBook operating system no longer supports WINE. If this is the case for you, I'm afraid you'll need to run Windows in a Virtual Machine or otherwise fully emulate Windows to play Trap Quest on your computer using the recommended Windows Git. Your other option is to try Gargoyle (see here).
• In some interpreters, on some people's computers, with some of the more complex character windows (mainly Wonderfuller and Clothing), undo is failing to work because the interpreter's undo buffer isn't large enough to handle the game.

MAJOR CHANGES

• Aika: Happy Halloween! We've got some new spooky Mansion content for you once again.
  • Inspired by your favourite game with Italian plumbers for the N64, you can leap through certain rippling paintings to enter some new tiny sub-regions. Each sub-region can only be entered once, and will provide you with an opporunity to earn a whole load of cheap jewellery, but risk some bad stuff while you're there.
    • Possessed dress: Each room in this small circular hallway has a sapphire ring in it, except one, at random. The other room has a possessed dress, and when you find it, it begins to chase you, and each turn you don't run away from it, it will swoop towards you. Succeed at a dexterity check or it will banish an item of clothing that's in its way, or, if there's no items left to banish, it will force itself upon you. It is rather see-through, and so probably quite humiliating, and also it's both cursed and glued, and has an enhanced version of the possession attribute, which means it will frequently molest you.

    • Toilet monster: This is a 3x3 grid, but it's also non-Euclidean, with no walls except the exit, which is at a random point along the south side of the grid. Everything that should be a wall is instead a pathway to another room in the grid, or perhaps even the same room. Do try to orient yourself as quickly as possible, because while 8 of the squares contain random sapphire (or if you're lucky, emerald) jewellery, the other contains the monster, which increases delicateness by 1 each time you end your turn in the room with it, and also will quite possibly make you automatically spit / expel / urinate, if appropriate.
      • [Diapers] After the second turn next to the monster, you gain a permanent condition that prevents you from using a toilet without the presence of a friendly NPC.

    • Cock monsters: This is a straight line with 6 rooms. Each room is a jewellery item in it, with more valuable ones towards the far end. Also each room except the first two has a dildo on the floor. As soon as you pick anything up, all the dildos come to life as flying disembodied cocks that chase you down and keep jizzing on you and trying to rip through your clothes penetrate you each time you fail a dexterity check, until you leave the area. So the further you venture down the tunnel before you start picking up jewellery, the more value you can get from the room, but also the more flying cocks you'll have to deal with, and for more turns.

    • Bowsette: This painting only starts rippling after you've been in all the others. It's just a single boss room, and Bowsette is in there, ready to fight. You'll earn one extremely valuable jewel if you do manage to beat her. If you lose the fight, Bowsette will leave the boss room and begin to roam the mansion.
      • Bowsette art was by Icarus back in the day.
      • She has a decent chunk of new conversation flavour for if she spawns this way (i.e. she's always been Bowsette, as opposed to another NPC from the game getting transformed into Bowsette), mainly paying homage to the song 'Ignorance is Bliss' by Jellyfish.

MINOR CHANGES

• Wishberri: This month, sex toys have received the Wishberri treatment.
• Aika: New magical enhancement for clothing, 'elasticity', makes you able to insert larger objects, and reduces the rate at which you get sore. Currently, you'll sometimes find this on panties, and some crotchless items.
• Aika: [Interracial] Satisfying a black cock while holding the royal scepter transforms it into a Queen of Spades variant. With this variant, seducing or suggesting a body part to a royal guard makes him immediately jizz himself, causing him to leave you alone and progressing the headgear's 'royal duties' quest.
• Aika: [Interracial] New 'Princess of Spades' class, obtainable by being a Princess, and either having at least 6/10 BBC addiction and asking a black NPC to fuck you anally or vaginally, or by asking a friendly black NPC to fuck you in any way, while a royal guard is in the room. Class outfit is as follows:
  • Tiara of Spades: Synergises with the spades version of the royal scepter, causing it to gain lots of magic power whenever you satisfy a black cock.
  • Exposing Queen of Spades 'dress' (more of a slutty item of negligee, really). Provides the 'elasticity' attribute, and also significantly improves luck.
  • Queen of spades skirt. Very short, so only partially conceals your crotch, even when you're standing. Significantly increases luck, but has the 'tempration' attribute, which makes you sometimes commence a seduction routine when you meant to speak to someone normally. Can be removed, but trying to wear any other skirt or trousers on top of the queen of spades dress causes its attribute to change to 'temptation'.
  • Queen of spades stockings. When kneeing a white man, if you succeed at two lucky rolls in a row, you instantly defeat him.
  • Queen of spades sandals. For now these have the same effect as the kitsune sandals - you don't trigger pressure pads and have a significantly higher chance of staying on your feet with other kinds of foot-based trap trigger mechanisms.
  • Overall, the outfit gives a big boost to luck, but leaves you fully exposed, meaning most NPCs in the game will be aggro'd.
• Narcissus: [Interracial] A new variant of the wench NPC - the QoS wench. Wenches can now have a few different scenes with gladiators and the shopkeeper. The first wench to experience a few of these scenes will transform into the QoS wench. She can also spawn as normal, from the summoning circle, if your BBC addiction is high enough.
  • She can fuck you with a huge strapon, and she can drag you to the shopkeeper for a good seeing-to.
  • She doesn't obey royal guards, and instead causes them to suffer premature ejaculations, and then run off in shame.
  • If you're the princess and she drags you to the shopkeeper, this can trigger the Princess of Spades class transformation, if your BBC addiction is high enough compared to a die roll.

TWEAKS

• Aika: The player is now allowed to remove jewellery while immobilized (there are some times when it's really unfair if you can't do this, like if you're stuck in the hole in the wall with 8 rings, and a gold ring in front of you)
• Aika: [TG fetish] If you're at minimum penis size and stand on the rune trap in the dungeon that shrinks your penis, it will transform you into a woman (unless you have chosen the option where it's only a shameful orgasm that transforms you).
• Aika: A normal chastity cage can now be transformed into the nub cage if hit by a transformation effect.

ALPHA TESTERS

• Aika: Fixed a bug where in the clothing character window, some assless skirts were having their buttcam rendered on the main character section, instead of underneath it.
• Aika: Fixed a bug introduced last version with Selkie's penis detachment stuff, that prevented female players from becoming futanari.

OTHER FIXES

• Aika: [Lactation] Fixed a bug where the temporary bonus cowgirls got after being milked wasn't actually ending.
• Aika: Hunted down and fixed a whole load of mostly minor flavour and item behaviour bugs caused by copy & paste errors over the last several years.
• Aika: The reverse bunny suit stockings (i.e. the bottom half) only get angry with you wearing a skirt if you're also wearing the top half of the reverse bunny outfit.
• Aika: Virgin females can now get the unvoided virgin tattoo from the Inspiration Room.
• Aika: Fixed a bug where plugging items of clothing removed from your lower half while you were stuck in the hotel hole-in-the-wall didn't have the penetrating flag removed correctly.
• Aika: While oversatiated, even when it's 100% liquid, you won't be told you are also hungry.
• Aika: Fixed a bug where pledging not to wear panties in the pledge lesson didn't actually punish you for wearing panties.
• Aika: Fixed a bug where when the game was expecting a numerical input, and you did something else instead, you'd get stuck in a state where every turn you got an error about failing to be able to read your input as a number, until you finally entered a number.
• Aika: Fixed a bug where time didn't advance when you rubbed a powder on something.
• Aika: Fixed a bug where in a specific set of circumstances, a toy inserted into an orifice that made you instantly cum as it was inserted, could in turn caused you to expel what you were holding in that orifice, even though the toy should have been there by now to block that.
• Aika: Fixed a tutorial bug where you could expel your anal creampie into a cup, overflow it, spawning the maid outfit, which then broke the tutorial.
